There are 5 Rashtriya Military Schools in India. These are fully residential premier institutions , administrated by the Directorate General of Miltary Training, classified as Category ‘A’ establishment. These are public schools with best of facilities, affiliated to the CBSE board. The fee for these schools is highly subsidised and borne by Ministry of Defence, government of India.
These schools were established in 1930s. Admission to RMS is on the basis of an All India Written Exam, Interview and a medical test.
Recent Updates :
- The exam cycle for academic session 2021-22 was delayed by a year because of the pandemic.
- Girls are now eligible to apply to RMS from academic session 2022-23.

RMS –CET, All India Entrance exam for admission in class 6 and class 9 for its 5 schools is conducted ONCE a year in December.
Interview : 20 marks; only the students coming in the merit list to be called for the Interview. Medium of Question paper in Entrance exam for class 6 is in English or Hindi.
5 (English, Hindi, Social Science, Mathematics & Science)

Interview : 50 marks ; only the students coming in the merit list to be called for the Interview. Medium of Question paper in Entrance exam for class 9 is in English only

How to apply
It is an Online application process where the entire application form and the fee is submitted online. Admit cards are also downloaded online. The application process is made online from the year 2021.

For Class 9 : Boys who are in class 7th or 8th between 13 to 15 years of age, as on 31st March 2025. Born between 1st April 2010 to 31st March 2012.
